We’ve only known short tights as an item for running, spinning, in the gym or on an actual bike. Long tights as athleisure wear has become popular over the last few years, but a short tight for day wear? You’re not too sure about this idea, right? With the right outfit combination and CONFIDENCE when wearing it, this look is fresh and totally cool. Although this style is relatively controversial, this trend is without doubt happening.
Fashion icons such as Chanel, Fendi and Stella McCartney showed us their take on this trend on various different European catwalks during their spring/summer 2019 collections. I felt inspired to put a couple of looks together that you could actually try wearing too!
The first look above, is simply styled with a cropped T-shirt and white high-top sneakers. Add your sunnies and bag and you’re ready to take the streets.
The model above is wearing the Softy Violets Short Tight, SweatGear. Click here to shop it.
I’m wearing a warm brown leopard print above called Maple Jaguar, SweatGear designed by Minnette, and the model below is wearing the same design in a different colour hue, Night Jaguar, SweatGear. Teaming the sporty tight with more dressy styled accessories like these oversized sunnies from YDE and Def Leopard bag, is key.
Balance is everything. Wear your Biker Short with a loose-fitting, upper body garment. A tight upper garment as well as a tight lower body garment can only work if a jacket or knit is added.
Leopard prints are still going strong, and there is no sign of this fading soon. My take on this is that it has become a core pattern, forming a staple in your home or wardrobe.
Wearing the same or similar colour top is always flattering to make you look taller, and this is why the grey with grey as well as the camel and camel (below) works well, even on shorter ladies.
I’ve noticed that some think the Tigress (below) is not flattering because of the horizontal stripes, but actually I’ve designed it in such a way that the stripes are thin, and not evenly spaced. So it will actually break your legs up into smaller pieces and make your eye look up and down the leg instead of across.
Whether dressed up or dressed down, these workout-ready shorts are key to a voguish yet effortless look. Wear with an oversized hoodie or knit, a structured blazer or a simple graphic tee to create multiple different fashion-forward looks.
From top to bottom model is wearing:
